For years, afi has been committed to uplifting the lives of individuals through engaging in various community development projects. This June, afi focused on contributing towards improving the quality of life of children and advancing their basic necessities. For this purpose, a partnership with the SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka was established.
SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka is an international organization that works to ensure that children who have lost, or are at risk of losing, parental care can grow up in a safe, loving, and nurturing family environment. Through family-like care, family strengthening, education, healthcare, and youth development program, the organization helps children and young people build strong foundations for independent futures.
This important mission closely aligns with the work of afi cares. Through this partnership, afi is joining hands with SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka to support children’s access to quality education, nutritious meals, healthcare, and other essential needs.
Through the established partnership, afi cares is sponsoring 3 children through the Senehasa Individual Child Sponsorship Program of SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka within the Piliyandala village. This partnership goes beyond a simple project that aims to uplift the community and instead embodies the joint vision of the two organizations.
This cause therefore perfectly aligns with afi cares’ areas of focus, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 through 5 by addressing the interconnected challenges that children and families face. As the initiative equally invests in children’s education, future livelihoods, and nutrition, it contributes to SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 5: Gender Equality. Furthermore, as it significantly reduces the financial hardships faced by children and families, thereby reducing emotional and mental strain, it contributes to SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
Every child who is given the opportunity to learn, to thrive, and to dream is one step closer to becoming a confident, capable, and successful individual who can positively contribute towards their family, community, and society. Through such initiatives, afi remains committed to enacting a meaningful change in society and establishing partnerships that inspire hope for generations to come.
