At AFI Corp, we define corporate success beyond profitability and choose to engage with society beyond the confines of business. Our flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, AFI Cares: Paving a Path for a Better Tomorrow, combines philanthropy and volunteerism to foster meaningful connections with communities while giving back to those in need.
This month, we conducted an outreach program at The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, Ratmalana. We distributed various essentials to assist the students with their day-to-day educational tasks, ensuring they have the necessary resources to thrive. To make the day even more special, we hosted a delightful evening teatime for 150 students, teachers and other staff members of the school
The activity is in keeping with our focus on Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education for All, which cannot be achieved without specific action to support children with disabilities. The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, Ratmalana is the oldest and largest institution in the country catering to children with special needs. It offers classes from Grade 1 to 13, following the national curriculum, as well as a preschool program, special classes for mothers and their infants with special needs and vocational training programs for graduating students to equip them with skills that can help them earn a livelihood.
