A Day of Kindness at St. Mary’s Home for the Elderly

At AFI, we believe that every act of kindness has the power to touch lives and strengthen communities. Guided by this purpose, our AFI Cares initiative is committed to uplifting those in need through projects that promote compassion, dignity, and well-being across Sri Lanka.

For our September 2025 project, AFI Cares extended its support to St. Mary’s Home for the Elderly, a long-standing sanctuary for more than 75 elders who rely on community generosity and care. Understanding their immediate needs, our team focused on providing essential supplies and medical equipment that would directly improve their daily comfort and health.

This heartfelt initiative was led by Shaahila Banu from the Brella team, along with her colleagues, who worked to coordinate, organize, and deliver the donations. Their commitment ensured that the project was not only impactful but also deeply meaningful.

During the visit, our team spent time with the residents, listening to their stories and sharing moments of connection, reminders of the warmth, respect, and human touch that elders deserve. The gratitude and smiles we witnessed reaffirmed why AFI Cares continues to prioritize community-focused initiatives.

Through projects like this, AFI Cares contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1: No Poverty and Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. Each initiative is designed with long-term impact in mind, ensuring that our support reaches the most vulnerable groups with dignity and sustainability.

Our visit to St. Mary’s Home stands as a reminder that caring for our elders is not just a corporate responsibility. It is a societal duty. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Shaahila Banu, the Brella team, and every AFI member who contributed to making this project a success.

As AFI Cares moves forward, we remain committed to creating avenues of hope, comfort, and community empowerment, one compassionate initiative at a time.
